Tourists and
international investors flock to this little paradise in search of
sunshine, beaches and tax-free investing. The Island of the Bahamas,
all 700 of
them, stretch over more than 600 miles in southeasterly direction,
starting only some 70 miles from the South Florida coast.
Tourism
and International
Banking are the mainstay of the Bahamian economy. Nassau is the capital
of this Commonwealth and is located on the island of New
Providence. Paradise Island lays on the northern side of Nassau Harbour
and can be reached by water taxi or via the Paradise Island Bridge.
The
Bahamas, and
Nassau/Paradise Island in particular, are home to many international
hotels, such as Marriott, RIU Hotel, Ocean Club and Atlantis Resort and
Casino.
But you can also find smaller, family type hotels.
Guests
in Nassau, Cable Beach or on Paradise Island have a large choice of
good international and native Bahamian Restaurants, serving from
anything from French Cuisine to Fresh Fish and rice at the "Fish Fry"
on Arawak Cay.
If
gambling and
night life is not at all your style, try some smaller hotel in the
capital or on one of the many "family islands", such as
Eleuthera, Exuma, Abaco, Andros, Bimini or Cat Island. Some of these
islands are excellent for bone fishing!
